How should I care for my jewelry?

We’re serious about quality, which is why we only use the best metals for our jewelry. We’re picky with sourcing our suppliers, making sure that the silver and gold we work with are built to stand the test of time. But let’s be real—life happens, and even the best jewelry can face challenges along the way.

Sterling silver is 92.5% pure silver, with the rest being metal alloy (usually copper). Any gold below 24k also has some copper in it. And here’s the thing—copper can sometimes react with your skin, leaving behind a grey or green tint. This can even happen with 10k/14k/18k gold or sterling silver when it mixes with your skin’s natural oils. It’s totally normal and nothing to worry about! But if you notice an allergic reaction, it’s best to take off the jewelry and talk with your doctor.

To keep your jewelry looking its best, it’s a good idea to remove it before getting wet or exposing it to extreme temperatures. While sterling silver can handle a bit of water, things like saltwater, chlorine, or constant exposure can cause it to oxidize and darken over time—it’s just the nature of the metal. Resin, which we use in our breastmilk jewelry, is strong, but too much moisture or extreme heat can weaken it, so handle it with care!

So what is the best way to protect your jewelry? Keep it away from chemicals, take it off before showering or swimming, and be cautious during activities where it might get banged up or stained (or broken and lost!)—like working out, doing manual labor, or painting.

If you ever notice any major fading or tarnishing, don’t hesitate to reach out. Send us some photos, and we’ll be happy to help.

What is breastmilk jewelry?

Breastmilk jewelry is a type of keepsake jewelry that incorporates a small amount of a mothers breastmilk into the pendant.  The milk is preserved through a patented formula, which takes 12-24 hours to dry before it turns into a powder like substance that can be used in a mold of resin.  The concept behind breastmilk jewelry is to create a tangible lasting memento of the breastfeeding journey us Mama’s have to go through, be it a joyful bonding experience only shared between a Mother and child, or a hardship and a struggle that emphasizes a Mothers love and endurance.

It is a deeply personal and sentimental item, which can be gifted or purchased personally to commemorate the special connection you shared during the limited nursing months.  Many of the pieces we offer can be customized with names, dates, or additional items inside of the resin jewelry, making it a truly unique and meaningful keepsake.

How do get my breastmilk to you - and how much do you need?

It’s simple! Whether you’re currently breastfeeding, pumping, or even if your journey has ended and you’ve got some old milk stashed in the freezer, all we need to create your unique piece is 15-30ml of breastmilk—that’s just 1-2 tablespoons.

We can work with fresh, frozen, or even spoiled milk to make your keepsake! Just place a small amount into a sealed breastmilk storage bag, and then tuck it into a bubble mailer for extra protection. Once you place your order, I’ll send you the address to ship it to. Don’t forget to label your package with your name and order number so we know exactly who it’s from!

You can use any carrier you like—UPS, USPS, FedEx—they all deliver to us daily. Once you’ve shipped it out, just shoot us an email with the tracking number so we can keep an eye out for your package.

Oh, and here’s a little bonus: when we preserve your milk, we’ll keep the rest on hand with your name on it for a year. So if you decide you want more keepsakes later, you won’t have to go through the shipping process again!

How is the breastmilk preserved?

The breastmilk preservation process is all about patience and precision. We take your milk and carefully measure it out, mixing it with preservation powder in a food-grade cup. This creates a paste that we then spread onto wax paper to dry for 12-24 hours. If everything goes as planned, then it dries into a fine powder—and that’s the magic ingredient we mix with resin to hand-pour and create your one-of-a-kind pendant!

It’s a process that requires time and care, but it’s how we make sure your piece is perfect.

What is your shipping & processing time?

We’re always excited to get started on every order that comes in! But since each piece is handmade by our little family (and not mass produced), it does take a bit of time. We typically need 3-7 business days to process wood engraving orders (and up to 2-3 weeks for larger bulk orders, like wedding invitations), and 2-4 weeks for all jewelry orders.

We’re based in North NJ, so if you’re local, you can pick up your order as soon as it’s finished and marked as ‘complete’! If we’re shipping your order, nearby states should see their packages arrive in 2-3 days, while deliveries to the South or West Coast usually take about 5-8 business days after we mark them as ‘shipped’.

We put a lot of care into how we package your order, making sure it arrives in the same perfect condition as when we sent it off! For stronger wooden items, we’ll use a bubble envelope, while other items are securely packed in a cardboard box. All jewelry orders are carefully placed inside of a jewelry box, within tissue paper and a larger cardboard box.  Every order is wrapped in our branded tissue paper, so it’s ready to be gifted right out of the package if you like!

Is there any warranty?

We’re committed to making sure your order arrives just as we sent it out. If you receive anything with a severe knick or damage to it, please send us a photo right away (within 3 days of you receiving your order). We’ll inspect the issue and see if it can be repaired, or if a replacement is needed.

For our jewelry orders, we offer a 30 day warranty on the chain and clasp for any defects or issues. Just remember to treat your piece with care to help prevent any damage!  We use a special treatment to darken your engrave, so if you notice that your engrave is fading a bit, feel free to contact us and we can reapply it free of charge (with shipping/handling being paid by the customer).

Are refunds allowed?

Each piece we create is made just for you, by hand, with your specific needs in mind. Because every item is so deeply personal and custom-made, we can’t resell or reuse what we craft for you. That’s why, unfortunately, we can’t accept returns.

When you place an order, please keep in mind that the wood we use has its own natural beauty, with unique patterns that can’t be altered. While we do our best to select the best materials, sometimes a knot or a small imperfection is part of the charm and uniqueness of the piece.

For breastmilk jewelry, it’s important to know that the color and texture can vary because we’re working with something as organic and natural as your milk. Bubbles or slight differences in color are just part of what makes your piece one-of-a-kind.

What about cancellations?

Once you place an order, it’ll move to ‘in process’ as soon as we start hand crafting your piece.  You will receive an email when we’ve started!  At that point, there’s no turning back, and we won’t be able to cancel your order. But until we get started, you’re free to cancel for a full refund!
